Really Great Gluten-Free General Tso’s Chicken
Using The Really Great Food Company Tempura Batter Mix
YOU WILL NEED:
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Really Great Food Company Tempura batter mix
- 2 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger or 1/2 teaspoon dried
- 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper seeds or crushed pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup of coconut amino‘s
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 can of pineapple chunks and juice
- 1/4 cup bbq sauce
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 2 cups veg broth or liquid
Chicken
- 1 cup of Really Great Food Company Tempura batter mix
- 2 pounds chicken cut into cubes and dried
- 1 scallion
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- 4-6 cups oil (depending on size of pot)
DIRECTIONS:
- In small sauce pan, sauté oil, garlic and ginger then add 2 tablespoons tempura mix. Stir until dissolved in oil.
- Add broth, bbq sauce, pineapple, orange juice & coconut aminos. Stir until smooth. Let simmer on low to thicken. Add salt and pepper as desired.

Using large pot or fryer add enough oil to go 1/3 up the pot
- Dust chicken chunks in tempura batter mix. Fry until brown a few pieces at a time. Set aside on paper towel to drain or on a pan in the oven on warm.

When all chicken is fried and crisp, cover with sauce, sliced scallions and sesame seeds
- Can be served on a bed of brown rice, white rice, noodles, or by itself! Enjoy!
